The Rosehive Superfoodie Lifestyle Box is a monthly box containing healthy, delicious vegan goodies for a healthy lifestyle. Thank you Rosehive for sending me this box to review! I received this box for free, but all opinions are my own.
I think we can all agree that presents are the best.
The suspense of receiving them! The excitement of opening! The wonders that one simple box can hold! The joys of instagramming pictures*!
*This may just be me #socialmediacrazy
So, when my friend Jillian contacted me and asked if I would be interested in trying out a Rosehive Box, I was ecstatic! I am a huge fan of subscription services (if you want me to talk your ear off about how incredible ipsy is, HMU FAM), especially those that promote a healthy lifestyle. So, what is the Rosehive Superfoods Box, you may ask? Here's what their website says:
...sign me up! Here was what was in the April 2017 box, co-curated with Lifestyle Blogger and Dietetic Intern Megan McKenna:
Snack: Ancient Grain Granola
"Nutty pumpkin seeds + chewy figs combined with ancient grains and superfood seeds. Baked with coconut oil containing medium-chain fatty acids that get used as energy rather than stored as fat - plus anti-viral + anti-microbial properties."
This. was. DELICIOUS. Opening this box post-work, I was starving, so I enjoyed this packet with some almond milk. Definitely buying the full-sized portion!
Herb: Activated Charcoal
"Organika Activated Charcoal is pure, and contains no fillers. It is ecologically sourced from trees and is said to aid in detoxing and digestion, trap toxins in the body, absorb impurities, relieve gas and bloating, rid bad breathe and much more!"
I had never used activated charcoal before, but I had seen it on so many blogs that I was excited to give it a go! I have always struggled with discolored teeth (hellooo, coffee/tea/red wine lovers - you feel me), so I started brushing with a charcoal paste (charcoal powder + water) before using toothpaste. While having a black mouth for a few minutes is a little scary, I've really started to notice the results after just two weeks! Next up - charcoal lemonade.
Surprise: Eating Evolved
"Eating evolved brings you the world's first Coconut Butter Cup! Simple dark chocolate & coconut butter, this is the cleanest cup on the market."
I got two packs of coconut butter cups in this box - two cups per packet - and was drooling from the second I read the flavors. Banana Cream? Salted Caramel?! And, trust me, they were just as good as they sound. As a huge fan of coconut, I was especially enamored with the flavors. It's always a great feeling to not feel bad about eating chocolate :)
Surprise: Hemp Seeds
"Hemp seeds are exceptionally rich in essential fatty acids and protein."
YAY. I LOVE adding chia and flax seeds to my oatmeal/cereal/smoothies/salads/wine coolers/LITERALLY EVERYTHING, so I was excited for the chance to mix up my nutritional profile! These are A+.
Drink: Maple Water
"Maple water naturally contains 46+ bioactive nutrients including phytonutrients, minerals, active antioxidants, electrolytes, amino & organiz acids. WAHTA is made from 100% pure maple sap with no added preservatives, or sugar."
If you are anything like me, this description ^^^ simply SCREAMS 'hangover cure.' And, as someone who thinks coconut water (what Gwyneth Paltrow would drink if her flawless pixie body ever succumbed to a hangover) tastes like thick, soapy dirt, I NEED this in my life. The flavor was mellow, but I definitely felt rejuvenated after drinking it!
Superfood Powder: Moon Juice 'Sex Dust'
"Sex Dust (Ho Shou Wu, Organic Cacao, Shilajit, Maca, Organic Schisandra, Cistanche, Epimedium, Organic Stevia) is a holistic approach to seeply nourished sexual vigor."
Now, I am far too single to see if this "Sex Dust" holds up to its promises on a Tuesday evening, but I did go on a great date the night I had this! Coincidence? I think not. I mixed this powder with almond milk and it had a vaguely sweet, earthy flavor that I really enjoyed. I was so sad when it was gone!
Cooking Ingredient: Raw Almonds + Mylk Bag
"A healthier alternative to dairy milk, almond milk is rich in energy, protein, and minerals such as calcium, potassium and sodium."
As someone who avoids dairy milk like the plague, I have long been a fan of almond milk. I had never thought to make my own, though, even after seeing it cross my Pinterest feed a gazillion times. This was my chance! The instructions are included on the back of the information sheet, and I will attempt this on an upcoming weekend. I can't wait!
So, there you have it! If you like presents, or your health, or exciting and delicious foods, head on over to the Rosehive website to check out your options!
In the meantime I'll just be over here, putting charcoal and hemp seeds into literally everything I own.
